Just Start. ~ 3 min.
It’s easier said than done. However, creating content is something which not only increases confidence, levels up your skill set and brings self fulfillment, but it has the potential to unlock benefits further into the future, such as a following, an income and a community of like-minded people.
the last point is invaluable - humans instinctively cultivate around similar interests. It’s how civilisation has become integrated and grown together. A community driven by your own ideologies reflected in a subject can become incredibly powerful.
Many people are making the decision to create content, but also many are finding reasons not to. You may read these and think ‘yeah but those don’t apply to me’ or ‘my reasons are different’. Anyway. Most people believe that they aren’t interesting enough to create content. Join the club. My Mrs watches a bunch of people in their kitchens talking about boring stuff - but they have a niche, hence why they have an audience. Nothing is too boring, there will ALWAYS be an audience for something, which is scalable 99.9% of the time. Just try it.
Some people think they’ll get rinsed about content they create. This is true a lot of the time, and that’s the reality. However, unless you’re spreading hate or incorrect information, more people will enjoy your content than not. Furthermore, it’s critical that you remember who you’re creating for - YOUR audience. Just because someone in the break room doesn't like you talking about coffee in a 5 minute video, chances are there are thousands of people who would love to hear your thoughts.
finally, people think they themselves, or their equipment is not good enough. Don’t fall into the trap of buying thousands of ££ worth of equipment having never picked up and spoken to a camera before, you’ll be surprised how hard it is. The phrase just start, and my own phrase ‘Fail Fast.’ Comes from the idea that the faster you start, the faster you fail, therefore the faster you learn and develop your skills. Always keep this in mind when attempting anything new. Failure is key to success in a lot of areas of development.
Hopefully this has provided some insight. I’m only at the start of this journey myself, so any questions drop them below. Thank you for spending this time here, I hope it was a good investment. I’ll speak to you soon.
Fail Fast.
